Do these words from Jesus mean the same as "Spread the Wealth"?

He also said "the poor ye shall always have with you". I guess he was thinking about today and the economy. Jesus often referred to the importance of spiritual wealth and not material wealth. I think if the Republicans represent the Christian conservatives maybe they should consider His teachings again.
