National Guard 19D, 11B?

I know for some MOS's like MLRS you need a drivers licence. I know you dont for 11B, what about 19D? Im joining the NC Guard, im torn between 11B and 19D, honestly it will prob go to what ever unit is closer to me. What is the differance of the two? Cav Scouts normally go ahead of the main force in hmmvws right? wouldnt that make them sort of a IED magnet? I would just like to go with what ever MOS will give me the best training to keep me and my battle buddys alive. the unit ill be attached to "30th HBCT" is deploying to iraq in november, so almost as soon as im done with basic ill be going to the box. I have no problem with that tho, its what i signed up for. From what i can tell, 19D travel in smaller numbers than 11B. But they are more sneaky? is that about right? also i kno that this has nothing to do with combat effectivness. But 19d gets to wear those cool stetsons and earn spurrs, & me being a country boy, id love that.
