What is wrong with out society? Why are celebrities celebrities in the first place?

I believe it's because society wants to see people that they can emulate and adore. Celebs are celebs because people support them, they wouldn't be who they are if their movies/shows completely failed at the box office or on TV. Fox, Alba, and Twilight are popular because they're hot, both in the sense that they're popular (also kinda good looking). In my opinion there are many actors at the time that are good actors, like Spacey, Jim Carrey, Kristen Stewart, and there will continue to be, but you've gotta weed them out of the pretty faced bad actors.
